KYIV

8 Bit Gallery in Kyiv is housed in the basement of an apartment building, and formerly used as a bunker. I was introduced to the curator, Inna, by a Ukrainian friend Khrystyna Iaroshenko. Together they organized a team to help me with audio and translations. Ukrainians were excited about participating in the recordings. However, some were suspicious of an American from New York claiming to do a project about love. The ice was quickly broken once they saw other people participating. These "behind the scenes" photos and video reflect the intimacy of the project. The connections made to cultural activists in Kyiv ultimately lead me to create LiTE-HAUS Galerie in Berlin.
